Franco's Journey

Franco is a storyteller at heart—whether through song, sound, or scene. A musician, producer, sound engineer, writer, and longtime creative hand in film and television, his path has always followed the pull of a well-told story.
Raised just north of Boston in a musical family, Franco started singing and playing classical guitar at six. By high school, he was gigging in local bars, then moved to Boston to study at Berklee while holding down bass duties in a rotation of bands and studio sessions.
Before long, he stepped into the spotlight—fronting his own band on the city’s Irish pub circuit and playing stripped-down acoustic sets on the streets of Harvard Square.
He spent years on the road as a street musician, performing at fairs and festivals across the Midwest and in the Boston subways—learning how to catch a moving crowd, one song at a time.
In the mid-’90s, Franco landed in Los Angeles to develop a music project—but found himself pulled into the world of film production. He stayed, settling in Venice Beach and building a career in film while keeping one foot in music.
He played both sideman and frontman in rock, Americana, and acoustic soul bands, and set up a home studio where he began recording his own material. He also produced a series of albums featuring unhoused musicians from the Venice boardwalk.
Recently, with film work on pause in Hollywood due to strikes and negotiations, Franco headed south to Todos Santos, Mexico—trading the soundstage for the open sky.
These days, he’s come full circle: writing, recording, and playing live, with a new album on the horizon.
